This website is operated by Jake’s Tutoring. Throughout the site, the terms “we” , “us” and “our” refer to Jake’s Tutoring.

Jake’s Tutoring offers this website, including all information and services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here.

By visiting our site and/or purchasing something from us, you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions (“Terms of Service”). These Terms of Service apply to all users of the site.

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before accessing or using our website. We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these Terms of Service by posting updates and/or changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Material changes will be communicated to clients where reasonably practicable.

Section 1 - Billing

For Pay as You Go (PAYG), payments are to be made on the day of the scheduled lesson unless otherwise agreed. Remittance advice is to be sent to either 0415 709 686 or jakesteed2@gmail.com. Invoices and receipts of payment are available on request.

If payment has not been received in due course then a friendly reminder will be sent out and prompt payment is expected. No sessions will be delivered to clients who are in arrears.

For Prepaid 10-Hour Packages, you will be emailed an invoice each time a package is issued. Prompt payment is expected before the first session of the package and remittance advice is to be sent to either 0415 709 686 or jakesteed2@gmail.com.

Section 2 - Weekly tutoring, lesson rescheduling and cancellations

We reserve regular weekly timeslots for students who are committed to ongoing tutoring. We believe the greatest progress is achieved through consistent attendance. While occasional rescheduling or cancellation is acceptable, students who demonstrate an ongoing lack of commitment to weekly tutoring may forfeit their reserved timeslot so that it can be offered to students on the waiting list. We will communicate to the student multiple times with requests for a commitment to weekly tutoring before termination of tutoring occurs.

To reschedule or cancel a session, please contact Jake at least 24 hours PRIOR to the scheduled session start time. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice will incur the full lesson fee.

If a student has cold and flu-like symptoms but is well enough to attend, an online session via Google Meet may be arranged. If a student is unwell and unable to attend, please notify Jake as soon as possible. Where a valid medical certificate is provided, late cancellations within 24 hours will not incur any charge.

Paired Sessions (Two Students)

For paired sessions, the scheduled lesson will proceed if at least one student is present, and the standard paired session rate will apply. Any notes or materials covered during the session will be provided to the absent student. If both students are unable to attend and sufficient notice is provided, the session many be cancelled or rescheduled subject to availability. If both students are absent without sufficient notice, the full cost of the paired session will be charged.

Section 3 - Contracts

We have no contracts. You can cease tutoring at any time. Please note that to cancel an upcoming session 24 hours of notice is required.

Section 4 - Prepaid 10-Hour Package

A prepaid package provides a lower hourly rate when 10 hours are paid upfront. This is a great option for students happy for a long-term commitment to their tuition.

Section 5 - Refunds for Tutoring

Prepaid 10-Hour Package: Any unused balance will be refunded, minus the full price of 1 PAYG hour. Any hours previously used on the current package will be charged at PAYG price. Here is an example to illustrate this:

Matt has purchased a Prepaid 10-Hour Package for $1,050 including GST. He has used 7 hours and has 3 unused hours. Matt wishes to terminate tutoring and obtain a refund.

Jake’s Tutoring will revise the current package:

- Charge $805: 7 hours used x $115/hr (PAYG price)

- Charge $115: Termination penalty equivalent to 1 PAYG hour for administration costs.

- Refund $130: $1,050 - $805 - $115 = $130

If there is not enough credit remaining to pay the PAYG lessons and termination penalty, no refund will be given.

Section 6 - Modification to the Service and Prices

Prices for our products and services are subject to change with reasonable notice.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service (or any part or content thereof) with reasonable notice.
